Choosing the alloy family

All three families are non-heat-treatable and gain strength from cold work rather than heat treatment. The right choice comes down to the balance of strength, formability and corrosion resistance your part needs.

1xxx · Commercially pure (1050, 1100)

At 99% aluminum or higher, the 1xxx family has the highest corrosion resistance and formability of any series, plus high electrical conductivity and reflectivity. Mechanical strength is low and the metal is non-heat-treatable, so it is strengthened by cold work through the H tempers. It is the usual choice for signage, reflective and decorative parts.

Temper, in short. O temper (annealed) is the softest and most formable, for deep forming and tight bends. H temper is strengthened by cold rolling: the second digit marks the degree of hardness, from quarter to half to three-quarter to full hard. More hardness means more strength and less formability. Temper is supplied to your requirement and confirmed at quote stage.
How it is made

From slab to coil

Mechanical properties are developed by rolling, not by adding heat treatment. Cold rolling work-hardens the metal as it is drawn down to final gauge.

  1. Cast slab

The starting slab is cast and prepared for rolling.

  2. Hot rolling

The slab is hot-rolled down to an intermediate gauge.

  3. Cold rolling

The strip is cold-rolled in passes to final thickness. Cold work builds mechanical strength; intermediate annealing softens the metal between passes when needed.

  4. Finish and flatness

Surface finish, mill or stucco, and flatness are controlled through rolling and leveling before the coil is wound.

Processing and coated options

Rolled coil can be processed to line-ready widths and lengths, or supplied already color-coated. We can quote the bare coil, the processing, or the finished coated product together.

Quality and documentation

Made and tested to standard

Certified production

Manufactured by Orbit Aluminum Industries at a plant certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety).

Tested to standard

Coil is tested against ASTM or EN references by market, covering mechanical properties, surface and dimensional checks.

Documentation with the batch

Material certificates accompany every batch. Test reports are available on request.

Shop Drawings

Our shop drawings are made to make fabrication and installation straightforward. They’re clear, organized, and easy to follow, so you’re not guessing on site or in the workshop.

Each drawing shows the exact dimensions, hole locations, sections, and assembly details you need to build and install the system correctly the first time. We include callouts, notes, and visual references so you can move step-by-step at your own pace.

If anything is unclear, measurements, details, or how a part is meant to connect, reach out anytime. We’ll walk you through the drawing, clarify the intent, and make sure you feel confident from start to finish.
